Welcome to the easiest way to make the perfect panna cotta!
In this post, I’m sharing the quickest recipe, a foolproof technique, and a touch of science behind achieving that dreamy, delicate wobble we all love in a panna cotta. Whether you're a beginner or a busy foodie, this guide will help you create a luscious, silky dessert with minimal effort and maximum wow.Let’s dive in and get wobbling!
INGREDIENTS
•500 ml (2 cups +1 tbspn) Heavy cream • 150 ml (1/2cup +2 tbspn) Milk
• 125 g (2/3 cup) Sugar
• 1 tspn Vanilla extract
• 8g gelatine / 1g agar agar / 2.5g china grass
• 2 tspn Milk powder (optnl)
Please try to use gelatine or agar agar for best results
METHOD
• If using gelatine or china grass, mix it with half of the milk mentioned in your recipe and set it aside to bloom. (Skip this step if you’re using agar-agar powder.)
In a saucepan, combine the remaining milk, double cream, milk powder and vanilla. Gently heat the mixture — do not allow it to boil.
Once warmed through, add your gelatine mixture. Keep the heat on low and stir well until fully dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir again thoroughly.
If using agar-agar powder, you must bring the entire mixture to a full boil for it to activate.
If using china grass strips, boil them separately in milk or water for 5–10 minutes, until completely dissolved, then combine with the cream mixture.
Strain the entire mixture well to remove any lumps or undissolved bits.
For gelatine-based panna cotta, allow the mixture to cool slightly before pouring into moulds.Agar-agar or china grass mixtures must be poured immediately, as they begin setting at room temperature.
When choosing your moulds, opt for ones with a bit of depth, as this helps achieve the classic wobbly effect.
Chill the panna cotta in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
To unmould, briefly dip the mould in warm water to help release the panna cotta easily.
Serve it with your favourite fruit preserves (citrus fruits works well) or a biscuit crumble.
It’s very yum to try as it is.
Where to buy the moulds?!
•I had brought my dancing cat from temu you can also find in ali express or amazon UK. https://a.aliexpress.com/_Eu2MSoS
• In India use this link to buy the moulds https://ornablissbulk.com/
Flavour Variations
For a coffee panna cotta, simply add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder instead of vanilla while heating the milk and cream mixture.
To create a fruity version, add 2 drops of yellow gel food colouring and 3 drops of mango essence (or any fruit essence of your choice) to the warm mixture. Stir well to combine before pouring into moulds.
Feel free to get creative with other flavours like rose, cardamom, chocolate, or even citrus zest panna cotta is a wonderfully versatile base! But first master your classic one
